Abstract
Amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) is an inherited disorder in enamel development of both primary and permanent dentitions. It accompanies various clinical implications such as rapid attrition, excessive calculus deposition and often other development disorders of teeth. A 27-year-old woman had hypoplastic type of AI and two congenital missing of mandibular lateral incisors. She had Class II molar relationship and showed excessive showing of the maxillary incisors. We decided to extract her maxillary first premolars, and close the extraction space using skeletal anchorage. Periodontal and conservative treatment was done prior to orthodontic treatment, and maxillary incisors were retracted with intrusive force. Adequate occlusion was achieved after 18 months of treatment. After additional full mouth rehabilitation with prosthetics, patient was satisfied with her esthetic smile. Orthodontist¡¯s role in AI interdisciplinary treatment is important because adjunctive specialties treatment such as periodontics and prosthodontics is frequently required.
